Case study: AI Adoption @ Nesta Group

It wasn’t a tech problem. It was a confidence problem.

90%

of staff members now use AI every week

50%

drop in staff citing a lack of use cases

75%

drop in data security concerns

The context

In mid-2025, staff at Nesta Group were curious about generative AI. But internal surveys revealed staff were held back by data security fears, a lack of clear guidance, and fragmented tools. It wasn't a tech problem; it was a confidence problem.

To maintain the organisation's edge in behavioural science and public innovation, we needed to help staff use AI safely and effectively.

The solutions

Infrastructure: Legal and tech secured data privacy and rolled out Gemini Enterprise.

Pilot training: Advisory staff designed initial training mapped to actual project lifecycles.

Scaling: I rolled the pilot training across the group and embedded it into onboarding.

Learning in the flow: I transformed real employee use cases into practical, on-demand tutorials and guides.

The outcome

By addressing the barriers to adoption, the internal metrics shifted markedly:

  • 90% of staff now use AI weekly

  • Over 50% of staff use AI multiple times a day

  • Data security concerns dropped from over 40% to just 10%.

  • Staff citing a 'lack of clear use cases' was cut in half.

The learning

You can't solve a confidence gap in a silo.

Layered support, safe infrastructure, relevant training, and on-demand resources, meets people where they are and moves the whole organisation forward.
